Which is the right controller?

Which is the best way to connect the hard disk (WD ATA100 7200 rpm)and the DVDROM in a Asus A7V133?
The hard disk on the VIA controller and the DVDROM on the Promise controller or the other way?
Is there any difference?

Hmmm if you can get the computer to boot on the Promise controller that would be the best solution. I have owned the Asus A7V133 and I never found out how to get the computer to boot from the Promise controller. On the other hand I did not put much effort in to it. The performance increase is marginal anyway.
