Resolution problems

So i have a Pavilion dv7-4165dx Entertainment Notebook. I'm playing some older games like Knights of the Old Republic or Diablo 2 etc. but then game screen is small. it won't cover my entire screen even if it's set on max graphics and resolution. my dad has the same laptop but his doesn't have this problem. any advice?

  1. is the game in windowed mode? If so, try pressing Alt+Enter
  2. i tried and nothing happened. i'm playing knights of the old republic through Steam. would that have anything to do with it?
  3. Are your drivers up to date?
  4. um if you mean the updates that the computer does for it self every few days then yeah it's up to date :P
  5. LOL no :P
Not the OS updates! I asked you about the drivers. Video card drivers. Are they up-to date?
  6. um how would i tell? not very familiar with comps.
  7. press the windows button and R simultaneously to bring the 'run' progrram. Type in dxdiag. Hit enter. Click on the "Display 1" tab of the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and look under the right side where it says "Drivers." This will tell you the main driver version number.
  8. ok i can see the number. now what should i do?
    Main Driver: atiu9p64.dll,atiuxp64.dll,atiuxp64.dll
  9. Check the version and date. :)
