All—

I have run into a problem of late that has baffled me; Windows XP reboots
itself with warning. I checked the event log “system section and notice the
following message appears before every reboot: “The device,
\Device\Harddisk2\D, is not ready for access yet. I have two Seagate
ATA-100 HHD’s (120GB and 80GB), both fairly new, and three DVD/CD-RW drives.
This problem developed around the time I install Service Pack 2, and it not
consistent. Also noted that at least 11 events appear in the event log right
after I go into Computer Manager can access the Disk Manager.

I have replaced the drive cable and changed out hard drives, all to no
avail. And I cannot seem to find any Knowledgebase article that directly
addresses this problem. Any and all help is appreciated.

A under powered or failing Power Supply? Did you rt click
MyComputer>select Properties>Advanced>Startup and
Recovery-Settings>Uncheck Automatically Restart. That may give you a
error message next time it attempts to restart.
