Well, it is known that the weakest point of the RDRAM is the latency, for reasons you may know by now, that bad latency is what makes the DDR333 (PC2700)
operate as good as RDRAM (PC800)..but hey, think how cool it will be with duel-channel DDR333!! it will OWN the duel RERAM- 333 * (2* 8)= PC5300!!!
I would like to ask a question, it appears that some of the tech thay is found in SiS 645 is taken from the SiS 735 - the memmory controler and the bridges bus tech- so is the only differens is the support for DDR333?
take for exmaple the VIA P4X, , its tech is taken from the KT266A..
Is that me or what we see here is that the chipsets makers develop a chipset for the Athlon platform and then realse the same thing for the P4 platform...
I sure hope that this will continue far after DDR will take over the memory market...
ya, maybe I should reprase somewhat, as "beats" is probably a little strong. It was pretty close. Any idea if this PC2400 stuff on pricewatch is the same as the DDR333 they use? If so the prices aren't really that much better than the RDRAM.
what two chipsets? I read daily AT and TH and Amdzone and socketA, what chipsets are you talking about...
Do you have any idea when a duel-channel DDRxxx will come out?
about the prices, you can use the PC2100 for the DDR333, AT checked it out and they confirm it, but, you have to varify it somewhere in SiS site..
The prices of the DDR333 shouldnt be much higher if you live in the US...
I said chips not chipsets. I was just referring to when AT mentions that the 735 was all in one big package whereas the 645 had to be put in two seperate packages.
That is good news about the prices. I was beginning to wonder what would be the point if the prices were too big.
