cannot load Search Engines only

I meant to post 'Can only load'

Interesting and urgent problem.

I can load every type of website EXCEPT for any search engine (ie. google, yahoo, ect..). Also I cannot open Windows Update. All other websites are very fast and stable. Please help. I am using IE. I am downloading sp2 and will try that too. I am on a business network, but the DNS and IP all look fine.

You have a problem.

Have you run any programs to check for spyware? Run HijackThis and.. well, I don't know if you should post it all back here.. you could, I'm sure someone has nothing better to do than read through 100 lines of garble.

Virus Scanned yet? Do you have virus protection?
Spyware Scan.. Spybot S&D, Microsoft's AntiSpyWare, Adaware?
Run those.. see what it finds.

Chances are, Hijackthis is going to be the one to fix it.

You might want to even download FireFox browser to use while you fix IE... might even want to keep with FireFox..

If your home/start page has changed and you've got a bunch of new bookmarks ... you have a browser hijack (Xupiter, coolwebsearch, etc) ... but it sounds like a search engine hijack. Did you click on a "Hotbar" or or other search bar recently. I would download and run these apps 1st: Spybot S&D (new version just came out), Ad-Aware SE, Microsoft Antispyware Beta 1, and add SpywareBlaster - just google them - you'll find them. Run Spybot in advanced mode, delete anything related to search engines they find (and anything else too) - and be sure to use the immunize feature on Spybot. You really need to visit a few security forums ... this isn't really one of the better ones.
