Okay I wanna know if I am right in this... got the following off a site selling PC hardware;

Epox EP-8K7A+ Socket A DDR RAID -Multiplier Up to 12.5x

Doesnt this mean that the fastest processor it can take is 1662Mhz ??? (12.5x133=1662.5)... isnt this a bit low, doesnt this mean that anybody with this board will need a new mobo should they wish 2 run a 1700Mhz or higher processor ???

Your forgetting that many boards also have BIOS configurable multiplier options, after setting the hardware multiplier to "Default." Also, the FSB can be adjusted.

Note that the new Athlons go by a different rating scheme;
1.8Ghz+ AthlonXP = 1.53GHz, and so forth.

Some mainboards, like my Asus A7M266, do not use a physical DIP switch style multiplier on the mainboard. Instead, you configure the clock speed of the CPU and such through the BIOS.

:tongue: Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty. :tongue:
