I recently upgraded to DSL internet service, and since then, though I have
taken precaution measures to make my system secure, my open hard drive space
seems to be declining at an alarming rate. My laptop is an older one (Dell
Inspiron 7000) but it handles XP Home edition well and uses the DSL
connection fine. I've enabled WEP and MAC address security along with
ZoneAlarm firewall and Norton antivirus. However, despite all this, it seems
like every time I look, my hard drive open space has declined by 50-100 Megs,
and so now I'm practically out of space.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

thanks

Andy,

You could try looking at the connectionn dialog to see if you are receiving
a lot of data when the pc is doing nothing,

You could run disk cleanup in case the problem is temporary files being
saved while you are browsing, these are often cached so that you can load the
site more quickly next time you visit.

If you are still using internet Explorer you might like to consider
upgrading to Firefox from Mozzilla which does seem to work a lot better with
most sites.

You could also consider downloading Lavasoft's Adaware from download.com and
checking for spyware etc.

mail me on chrisc_w at yahoo dot co dot uk if you think I can be of any
further help. It may be a day or two before I replay as my yahoo account is
not my rmain home address.
