After installling Windows XP update KB840987 I get the same error
message when trying to perform certain printer functions except it's
code 127 instead of 126. Both my autoexec.nt and ntvdm.exe files are
correctly located in the Windows XP system 32 folder. When I uninstall
that update, the problem goes away. I tried substituting both files
from my 1386 directory to no avail. I am afraid that if I install
service pack 2 I will get the same problem since SP2 presumably
incorporates the 840987 update. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
