Flashing bios with Windows Me

OK, here's the deal. I'm going to order a new hsf for my 1.2gig t-bird. However, in the process of installing it, if I crack my cpu (accidently of course, not just for an excuse to buy an Athlon XP!), I would replace it with an XP. To do that, I need to flash my mobo's bios so it will recognize the XP.
Problem: All the instructions talk about creating a "bootable system floppy disk". However, the instructions seem to be written for non Windows Me systems, since the instructions refer to options I don't seem to have. I've also read that Me poses special problems in regard to the so called "system floppy".

Help me please! How do I flash my motherboard bios if I'm using Windows Me? (Besides going '98 SE!) :smile:

Hi:
Don’t think about your WinMe (I mean forget about it for a while), just get or download a bootable floppy http://bootdisk.com
and do what the motherboard manufacturer’s site said. Remeber, you update the BIOS from pure DOS. The WinMe has nothing to do with the BIOS update.

Anyway, if you want:

Hey, thanks for the links! My real question is in regards to Me's inability to access real dos mode, and therefore the inability to create a boot disk as you would in win '98. That's where my stumbling block is: What to use for a "boot disk". And while I enjoyed the links, they did leave me feeling like this was going to be a hell of a lot more complicated than I thought :frown: . I think if I was running '98, I think I would already be finished flashing my bios, since creating a bootable floppy seems easy under that os! Which boot disk and method of creating the boot disk is prefered for those of us using Me? (I know flashing the bios has nothing to do with the os, but the method of creating the boot disk does)
I'm kinda venturing into uncharted waters here, so excuse my lame-ass questions!

Ehhh, I don't know. Sorry, I never think (long), just do.
And you just do it. Do anything. Never stop. See what happens. And redo.
Let us know which way you would recommend. :}

"...just do it. Do anything."
Uhhh... sounds like a recipe for disaster for me!
I think I'll just have a friend do a boot disk from Windows '98, and I'll just use that.
