is this game buggy or is it me? Its frustrating that yes it should be done automatically when you get closer, but it doesnt. He does nothing.
I'm at a loss; did you try to restart at the latest check point or even try to restart the whole mission?
I've replayed this mission; the soldiers find the loaded van, then you follow the red wire, down into the basement. You notice the setup on the table, with two wires, then you need to interact with it, with E, and then you yank one of the wires out. Then there comes this quicktime event, when you kick the heck out of the insurgent, where you need to interact with a few times, first with E, then mouse left click; after you hit him till he's unconscious, in the midst of all the yelling in there, your soldier turns toward the table again, and yanks the second wire out ALL BY HIMSELF, you don't need to push any other keys, you don't even need to turn him around to the table, it's done via the in-game cutscene.
After that, you get control of your character again, and head out from the basement, and join the fight at street level.
I had the same problem. I restarted the whole mission, and followed the red wire. Literally. Keep it in front of you the whole time, all the way to the basement. when it goes up, look up, when it goes down... Worked for me when I did that.
On the Pc version I have found that remapping the controls can cause major issues with the quick time events, to the point of being progress halting on the 2nd time around on the train. On my 2nd time around on the train, after kicking the guy out the window and taking his gun, and going to the next window by the door and jumping out, with the controls remapped, I can leap via spacebar still to the next train car, but I will die anyway instead of being prompted to press the next key to climb up the car. Really surprised a bug like this slipped past quality control.
I also had this issue and it was pretty disappointing. I was seriously immersed in the game and all of a sudden got hit with this bug, oh well. The fix is actually binding a key to the "prone" action. It would appear this bug comes about when you remap your keys and don't assign anything to the "prone" action. For example I have my "prone" set by holding down "x". Simply bind a key to the prone position to fix this. It worked for me at least. Good luck

It id waiting for you to hit a certain key - if you remapped your keys or if you are not using a qwerty keyboard you will have a problem. do you see instructions on the screen to hit a certain key ? Hit the qwerty of the mapped equivalent of the key and if you get the right key it will disappear and the mission can continue.
Yes, as above you have to have a key for Prone mapped here, not toggle prone.
I was stuck and the screen said "Press [ ] for prone".
I went into options, mapped a key for prone and then pressed it so the instructions disappeared, then it worked first time
