Asus P3V4X Broken?

OK, I install an 80-gig HD from Western Digital...and now my motherboard doesn't seem to work.

On this board, if there's no RAM, or no video card, then you get a series of beeps. I've disconnected everything except the processor and internal speaker, and I get nothing. No POST, no beeps, nothing except the CPU fan turning on.

Did I somehow fry my board?

Probably hooked the drive up backwards. My stepson is the only one I know that ever actually blew a chipset that way. Oh well, it was just a VIA platform anyway.
