Opening a small (2k) non txt file via right clicking and choosing "open with"
notepad, is taking 30 seconds.
When my network interface is disabled, the problem goes away. When opening
the file, task manager networking tab does not show any significant increase
in network traffic; I also tried checking with perfmon.
I have Win2003 standard, and have defragged, and scanned for viruses and
spyware.
I only have one mapped drive, and it is connected. This problem may have
started at around the time I enabled the Webclient service and used it via:
tools -> map network drive -> sign up for online storage or connect to a
network server.
I have undone the above (by deleting the network place and stopping the
Webclient service) but the problem lingers.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem and solved it? Thanks.
