Hi there!
I too can not Restore my computer (Windows XP)to a previous date. It goes
through the whole restore process then at the end says it can't restore to
that date. Tried different dates and still no luck. I have SP2 installed. My
questions: if I uninstall SP2 can I then do the System Restore? Would
uninstalling SP2 erase my restore points?
Many thanks :)

Theresa;
My guess is the Restore Points are corrupted and uninstalling SP-2
will not help, you can try if you need to.
But you may be better off posting your actual problem in a new thread
and possibly someone can help with the problem that warrants a System
Restore.

There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

Thanks Jupiter.

I wanted to get the SP2 out of the computer (that I use for work) and was
afraid to try to uninstall SP2. Thought it might be easier to use restore and
restore it to a place before I had installed SP2. That option did not work. I
had major problems with SP2 in my home computer and had to reinstall the OP
system. That scared the heck out of me and now I am worried about the one I
use for work.

I will try uninstalling SP2 and IF everything is working fine then I will
follow the steps that you suggest below.

Thanks again for your help.

Theresa;
Before installing SP-2, see the Service Pack Installation Checklist:

Hi Jupiter,

I wish I had seen this checklist before installing SP2. I guess I didn't do
my homework. Is there a safe way to uninstall SP2 or can I just go to Add and
Remove to uninstall?

Thanks...

Add / remove programs should be fine.

See if you can remove the DotNetFramework. Then temporarily
disable antivirus. Try a remove of sp2, and disable auto
updates during the process.

In Romans 1 there are qualities of Unregenerate man listed
which describe him in the last days.
Is your quality found on this list??

Used add and remove to uninstall SP2. Now I will see if I have any problems.
Thanks for the tip.
Two cents is better than no cents :)
