Name of an old space game

Hi all! I'm trying to remember the name of an old DOS game where you had to choose from different spaceships and battle other spaceships. Each ship had a primary and secondary weapon. One ship, if I remember correctly, had a huge cannon for the primary weapon, and the secondary weapon was to launch fighters. as well there were two meters, one for enegery and one for crew. when you ran out of crew, you died.

yup, Star Control II, I don't remeber it quite like that, but I just remember playing the Super Melee mode over and over again playing as the Ur-Quan Dreadnought and just releasing fighters
