Hi.

I plan to run Battlefield 3 on a computer with the following specs and just wanted to ask you guys if I would have a good experience with this game.

Intel core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.1GHz
Quad core
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 SC 1gb Video card
8gb RAM
Windows 7 home premium

also I am using a 1920x1200 res monitor.

Cheers

Welcome to the forums Judith_20111,

with that setup yes you can run battlefield3 but not as smooth as you would hope with that card as i have the same card as you. if you played at 1680x1050 better frame rate but since your pushing 1920x1200 thats a fairly big resolution your frame rate will be around 20fps.. you could try playing at a lower res of 1680x1050 giving you more frames, your other choice is to upgrade your graphics card.

all the best daninozz :)

Will low frame rate (20fps for example) make the gameplay glitchy? almost as if I we're teleporting around maps.. or will it just lessen the quality of visuals? If that makes sense? :D

Apparently 2 Asus Mars II in SLI can't run BF3 at all ultra settings without lag like wtf :o  so it'll be kinda hard for anybody to have uber nice graphics at decent frame rates :/

Aside from possibly an failure with the current Nvidia drivers for SLI rigs, I have a hard time imagining this. I have a single gtx 570 and I'm running BF3 multiplayer 1920x1080 on all ultra settings with shadows at high, and 2xmsaa. My lowest fps at these settings is 65. an SLI rig of any gtx 570/580 combo should certainly be maxing this game at all but theater-sized resolutions.

My friend has a 460m and he has everything maxed out on a 1600x something res. He runs with 60+fps

With my system i get 32 - 34 frames max, and about 24 - 25 low so far

Like stated you will be able to run it the question is how smoothly. It will not glitch just have frame rate issues. Turn off high end video card functions and I think you will be ok. I mean the game runs well at 1080 on ps3 and 360 but just not as pretty.

You should be able to run the game quite smoothly.

My system is in my sig. and I run the game with everything on Ultra, 16x Anisotrophic, 4xMSAA, no AA post and no motion blur @ 1920x1080 resolution.

The game eats up all of my 1280Mb V-ram and 1,9Gb System ram but my average framerate is around 48, with lowest drops hitting 32 fps and peaking at 60 (V-sync enabled).

I find it quite odd that soo many awesome new systems struggle with this game, since my 2 year old (except from GPU) machine handles it soo nicely.

What I find ridiculous about EA/DICE's recommended system requirements though is that they should have opted for 6Gb ram instead of 4. With only OS (Windows 7 64-bit), Origin (EA crap), Chrome browser with Battlelog and the game running, My system eats 4,7Gb ram - and my OS is VERY stripped and tidy.

The only problems I have encountered are struggeling servers, especially on the "Tehran Highway" map with 64 players.
