Hey, in my computer programming class (q basic, yeah i know, it sucks) we have to design our own program. I am making a quiz-type progarm on computer hardware I have ideas of my own, but I thought who better to ask then the THGC. So any questions (and answers) you can come up with on anything...cpu's, ram, hdd's, optical drives ect. If you can try to make at least one question that the average computer ignorent person could answer, others can be as hard as you want. Oh, and if you know any q basic you can throw in questions about that. Anything off the top of you're head would be fine.
Thanks in advance.

Q: what is the diffrence between a CD drive and a DVD drive?
A: the cd uses a infrared lazer to read the disks and they can have up to 650-700 MB of data on them where as a DVD uses a red lazer and this results in it being able to store 4.7 GB per layer. also the lazer in the DVD can be refocused to other layers in the disk giving it up to 9GB on a duel layer disk. (ps the reason the dvd can store more info using a red lazer is that the track can be finer due to the wave length of red being less that that if IR and so they can fit more tracks in the same area)
Q: what do NOT, OR and and AND gates do?
A: the NOT will make a live signal into dead signal (e.g a binary one in to a binary 0 and visa versa) the OR will take 2 (or more) imputs and combine them into one. (e.g the signal could come from just one imput or both imputs and it will come out a 1 but if there is no signal on any imputs then it will be a 0). and the AND gate will take 2 (or more) imputs and will only out put a 1 if there is a signal one ALL the imputs, else it will be a 0.
should i re-post in cpu forum? Sorry about bumping it twice, i just want to give ppl a chance to read it. The pages for the threads aren't long enough.
