New Video card for s6500nx

Just purshased a new video card online for the Compaq presario s6500nx my
wife bought. (Saphire ATI 9600xt 256 MB)

Got a question...

When I install this card, do I have to disable the onboard video first or is
it automatically disabled?

If I have to disable the onboard video, how do I do it? Do I have to get rid
of the driver for the onboard video?
