Seems pretty good to me. MB has 5 pci slots, 3 memory slots, raid and the kt266a chipset. memory is about $20 higher then i've seen it elsewhere, but not worth placing a 2nd order somewhere else for memory. And the GeForce card is not the titanium series, which puts it between the Ti200 and Ti500.
Sounds ok to me. Any one got anything i should know about this setup?
Hey M,
What brand of DDR, and is it 1 stick of 512mb or 2 sticks of 256mb? Is this DDR rated at CAS/CL 2.0 or 2.5? What are you going to do with this system? If you are even thinking about OC'ing(over-clocking) consider buying a "OEM" CPU and getting a better(but much louder) HSF(Heat Sink Fan). In general, it looks like a good setup, for a good price. Good Luck with your system, it should ROCK!
Peace Out...........tile
That RAM price seems a little high. I picked up that much (PC2100, CL=2) for around 50. Then again, I bought it around a month ago. I have no idea about RAM prices now, so correct me if I am wrong.
Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty.
One stick of 512, but i'm not sure about the CAS. I'll have to email them and ask. They dont say what it is or what brand other then 'major'.
I'm not going to overclock. I'm going to use HSF that comes with the cpu, and maybe buy a better one later. Toms hardware did a comparison of 17 coolers, and there is one that got very good ratings both for cooling and being quiet.
Going to be using it mainly for work (web design and programming) and gaming.
no you're right, that price is high. but if i order ram from a different place, thats going to stick an extra $10 worth of shipping, which makes it almost pointless to order the ram from somewhere else. I looked at crucial, since they have no shipping charges right now, but they dont seem to be selling any 512meg memory sticks for some reason.
