Problems with Gigabyte GA7DX-R and Windows XP?

Has anybody and experience with this combination? I've been having huge problems - lockups, complete crashes, programs exiting for no reason and when I look in the event viewer I get a message about the ACPI BIOS trying to read from an illegal IO port address. Microsoft say this is a fault of the BIOS but it seems odd that it would crash my machine.

My configuration is:
Gigabyte GA7DX-R
512MB 2100 DDR
2 * 30Mb IBM disks
Hercules 3D Prophet 4500
Midiman Delta 66 sound card.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any experience with this set up, but I have had problems with lock-ups and blue screens. Have you updated it with the latest BIOS version? I have the KG7-Raid and I was having that problem. With the new BIOS update, it runs like a dream.
