In the process of removing viruses I activated the "Turn off System Restore"
indicator as well as started my laptop in safe mode. I am unable to
deactivate the "Turn off System Restore" indicator in safe mode and cannot
get out of safe mode whilst the "Turn off System Restore" indicator is
deactivated. I do not have a Windows XP CD as the operating system was
installed when purchasing the laptop. HELP!

Hey there ... If you are trying to remove and clean your computer because of
viruses ... Then you would turn off system restore in normal mode , once
that is done , then you reboot your computer in Safe mode and perform your
scans , Afterward you have clean your system then you would go back in
normal mode and reactivated system restore and create an restore point ...

That is fine except that I have already deviated from this procedure. Too
late now!

What is the "Turn off System Restore indicator"?

"How to start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration
feature in Windows XP"

Ted! If you right click on the "My Computer" shortcut on your desktop and
then select "Properties" the system properties screen appears. Click on the
System Resore tab and then you will see the option to activate/deactivate the
system resoration function. It allows your system to be make changes to your
system without compromising functionality.
