I bought a A7V133 / Via Apollo KT133A chip set. I bought a 1.4 AMD thunder bird with it. I notice when I boot up the MHZ says 1050. Maybe I,m reading this wrong but that looks like a little over 1000 MHZ not the 1.4 cpu I bought. I am running in jummperless mode . If I have to set the jumppers for it what would they be. This board has 4 IDE ports with raid capabilities. Thanks Bruce

Set the multiplier to 10.5, and the front side bus to 133. Make sure your JEN jumper is set to 1-2 (page 18 in the manual).

If this doesn't work, maybe check your AMD core and read what it says. They might've given your a different one. (Probably not, though.)

What? You set your FSB to 133 and your multiplier to 10.5, and you get 1200??? Your JEN jumper's set to 1-2, right? Use the jumpered settings, not the JumperLess mode.

Can you check your core and read what it says (all of it)?

Thanks for the reply. I think I got it fixed. I left the mobo on jumperless and went into the bios and used user defined. I set it to 133 x 10.5 and I got my 1400. I think this is the last ASus mobo I will buy. There web site is a mess for support. You can't tell if the A7V133 is good for 1000,or 1300. I guess I have it over clocked alittle at 1400. Time will tell. I will put on the OS tonight which is winXP. But I will keep win98 handy. Thanks Bruce

Don't say that about Asus. I mean, not all corporations can keep their websites that up to date. They do have quality motherboards, though. Plus, their support was great. On an earlier thread a couple of months back, I was able to find out that the revision motherboard I had had a problem with the chipset fans. Sure enough, I opened it up and it wasn't running. The thread gave me a phone number to call. So I called, explained, and they sent me a new chipset fan. I received it in three days, too! It must've cost them a pretty penny. So, don't misjudge their support by their website.

Anyways, I'm glad that you worked that out. FYI, it's new BIOS allows it to support the Athlon XP. These are the links that I check out from time to time for updates.

With 133x10.5, it equals 1396.5. So, it's not overclocked.

Anyways, I hope everything runs great now!

Thnks for the reply, Yes I still have confindence in sus, even though alot don't. I have a company tell me today thank AMD and ASus are fighting and they won't order any asus Mobo's because there quality is down. I'm running 3 Asus boards, P5A,A7V, A7v133. I have not had a problem except with the 128 rage chip on the video card not running on my asus boards. By the way I left the core voltage set to auto for the 1.4. That should be ok, do you think?. Thanks for the help. Bruce

Interesting...

Anyways, I'm glad you mentioned that about the 128 Rage Chip. I'm considering building two systems for two of my friends. They're pretty low on cash, and I was planning on buying them the $34 ATI XPert 2000 Pro. Is that something of problem with the ECS K7S5A maybe?

Automatic vCore setting is just fine...

I replaced the 32 meg ati board in my 800 with a Xpert 98 PCI rage 8 meg card and it works fine. Probaly not the best for gaming. There is a disclaimer with the 128 rage chip on Ati for the Asus A7V board. bruce

8MB? I don't know if I want it that cheap...
Anyways, wish me luck. I guess I won't get anything lower than a Radeon (if I go with ATI).
