Are there any new bluetooth phones for Verizon
on the horizon over next 2-3 months? I really
don't like the larger size/cheapness of the V710. Any
from LG or more like RAZR coming?

Just got off the phone with customer service (not real happy with them
right now), and they told me that there should be a few new bluetooth
phones coming out in the next few weeks in time for the holidays. She
wouldn't give me any additional details, however.
As a side note, she told me that I was not eligible for a full $100 NE2
credit because I had originally signed a 1 year contract. (She would
only give me $70) Since I've had my phone for over 2 years, and have
been a customer for over 5, this really makes absolutely no sense to
me. I can understand them not giving the full $100 to someone who
doesn't sign a new 2 year agreement going forward, but why should they
care what I've had in the past, as long as I've had the phone for 2
years? Bizarre.

Thanks for the info. That is encouraging. Seems like if it was
only a few weeks away, it would have something on phonescoop
by now.

I have been a VZW customer for over 5 years as well, and spend over
$2000/year on phone bills. No special deals here either.
It seems VZW will bend over backwards to get you as a new customer but don't
care once you're a customer.

Kinda reminds me of bellsouth .... they fought me for weeks over a $6 billing
dispute. In the end they wouldn't budge so I paid it and dropped their
service. Now they send me $100 checks to switch back to them ....
(Ain't gonna happen! ... but it's idiocy that that which drives me nuts!)

that stinks. when I got my phone, I was out of my 1 year contract, but the
guy offered me the new every 2 100 bucks, since I had the phone for almost 2
years. It really just depends who you talk to.

I asked the sales guys at 2 Verizon stores in the mall
here in MA today (one is regular retail store and one
is kiosk).
Both people said that there isn't anything on the horizon
for next few months for new bluetooth phones. Hopefully
your right and they're wrong!

The forum claims it will be on VZW, with the usual "insider"
information, although that may be wishful thinking. I do
note that the phone is full of features that users want but
make VZW fear for the survival of their business.

Which just means that VZW will disable all of the cool stuff before selling
it. :-)

Thanks for the info, I hadn't seen that one. Looks a
little smaller (good) but some features not as good
(screen, camera).
I'm hoping for LG phone, as I've like their interface/features
in the past.

If that phone allows the phone book to be transferred via blue tooth,
I'll be at Verizon demanding that they let me trade my V710 for it.

I've been eyeing a V710 for a bit now,
but because of the VZW lobotomy I have held off.
Maybe this is a viable alternative?

They are pretty clear about the NE2 program. They use it to encourage you
to sign a 2 year contract. If everyone could sign consecutive one year
contracts or merely be a customer for 2 years then their purpose would be
defeated. I am surrprised they even gave you the $70.
