Having trouble running games with these specs.

Ok, so I have the following laptop pecs:

-Dell XPS 15
-8GB RAM DDR3 1333mhz
-Inter core i7-2630QM CPU 2.70GHz
-Windows7 64bit
-Nvidia GeForce GT 540M 2GB
-451 HD
screen res of : 1366x768

But when I run WoW it won´t go over 30 fps, same with all the other games. It also has an integrated graphics card (but the games detect the nvidia one).

A friend of mine has exactly the same computer but with a 1080p resulution, and all his gamesrun at 60. Could the screen resolution be the problem?

If not, is there an option to maximize the computers performance?
