I want to make the newest item available to me after my level up. But
I need an item I cannot make.

Browsing the market there a few people selling them ... for 15sp.
Seems excessive to me. I browse for the item that I want to make to
see it selling for as low as 5sp.

The inter-dependancy on other players in order to craft is not going
to work.

Cheers,

Why not? inter-dependancy on other people/companies works in real life.
Also, I haven't played eq2 yet, but why can't you either accquire it
yourself or from the trade societies?

That scenario will not become commonplace. There is a great amount of flux
in the crafted items market right now as it is in its infancy. The market
will stabalize.

What *won't* work is trying to come to any viable conclusions on the market
trends of a given game's economy after only a month. ;)

Last night, I levelled and can now make Maple Strongboxes. To do so,
however I need an Iron Seet, which I can't make.

I can buy them for 10s from the broker. Luckily, the end product
sells for 50s on the broker. :)

In future, though, I'll be getting Iron Sheets from another crafter in
my guild.

Give it time - as thing change, prices go up and down. In the
meantime, I'd recommend requesting what you need on the crafter
channel, as I'm sure you can get a much better deal there.

Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes !
They got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses !
And what's with all the carrots ?
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway ?
Bunnies ! Bunnies ! It must be BUNNIES !

Yes -- at least until the item you want isn't profitable to make
or the item you want is too costly to buy and allow you to be
profitable. That's where EQ2 is *right now.*

"Acquire it yourself" means buy it from someone else -- you
CAN'T make it yourself, at least after obtaining a decent
level. The tradeskill merchants don't sell everything. EQ2
*forces* player interaction, especially on tradeskills. You
can go out and kill things perfectly well without some classes
(like scouts, for instance) or even solo. You can NOT
"solo" tradeskills, at least after you need components from
other players skilled 11+...

I stopped crafting several weeks ago when I could purchase certain books
in the under 10th level range. The refining books IIRC. So I started
harvesting and made a ton of $$ from that.

Yesterday, I played my 6th level alt on a different server. In the
graveyard, I got 6 artisan books in an hour and a half. What a joke.
This crafting isn't the fun I was hoping for.

Don't give it up completely yet. A lot of folks are forming
relationships with others as cross-suppliers for just this reason.
People will figure out soon enough that trying to market your interim
pieces as if this were the EQ1 bazaar isn't going to work.

Make some noise in the crafting channel and see if there are people out
there willing to do some trading. If I recall correctly, you should
have some items that others will need for their finished products. It
is, after all, a *trade* craft. ;-)
