Can anyone suggest what few items I could make cheaply to get my skill
in pottery up? It is at 198 and I'd like to get it to about 300 but
the leveling guide at eqtrader doesn't go that high. Any cheap
suggestion?
TIA

First, you can't get your skill to 300. Not possible. Highest is
250 with a geerlok that will get you to 252. I haven't checked them
all out, but have been told that Crucible of Escape can be made for
about 10plat each after you've done the farming.

That'd be true without the aa's but with aa's, one could work on
skills and I do need to get pottery to 300 as there are a few I need
to make that trivals in the upper 200's. Shield of Valor for example
is like 295.
Here's a list of pottery recipes and its trival, they go up to 335 and
I have reason to suspect 350 is the max possible skill:

And your suspicion would be wrong. The max you can get your
natural skill is 250, as I said. The tradeskill AAs do not
effect that level, it only effects the chances of a success
on a combine (i.e., you will still only have a skill of 250 or
252 with geerlok but the AA's will raise your chances of success.))
You may *need* to get your pottery to 300. You are not able to.

Others have said it, I'll reiterate. You can only take a tradeskill up
to 250 maximum, period, end of story. You can modify it up to 252. You
can get AAs that will reduce your failure rate on combines. You can get
AAs that will allow you to salvage components sometimes on failed
combines.
All that being said, there is no easy cheap way to raise pottery at the
high end, depending on what you mean by cheap. Compared to some of the
other tradeskills, pottery is cheap up to 250. I made a mix of items,
opal encrusted steins until trivial, then star ruby encrusted steins.
The opal ones, I junked. The star ruby ones, I transferred to my vendor
mule, and sold them at a small loss usually.
If you don't mind farming a lot, you can do crucible of escape. There
are likely some other recipes you can try, been a while now since I've
looked.

You might check the tradeskill guides at Trader's Workshop:
Xanthe Ravenwolf has tradeskill guides for all tradeskills IIRC are
what she thought was the cheapest way to get to GM level or as near as
she could. They are somewhat out of date and she is looking at updating
them.
I took a look and her guide for pottery maxes out at the moment around
220 (???).

I looked back at my old stuff, and, at the time, the easiest, not
cheapest, route was Opal encrusted steins up to 220, then Star Ruby
encrusted steins to 250. All of the components can be purchased off
vendors except for the magic clay which requires a low level enchanter to
make.
