I recently tried to uninstall Norton 2005, but it refuses to go. It absolutely refused to be uninstalled in any way, so I tried deleting all of the files it had on my hard drive. This worked, but now I cannot get it out of my add/remove programs list. I know this may seem minor, but I am extremely OCD about these things, and I honestly don't think I'll be able to sleep or eat until I've cleaned this shite out. Can anyone help?

Backup all your important files and reinstall the OP/SYS from scratch.
Norton 2005 What?
You could try reinstalling Norton 2005, then disabling the protected trash bin feature, and uninstalling again, but if you deleted folders that weren't uninstalled, you've essentially ripped it out of your machine, but theres registry entries and shared files left behind, you've really made a mess of things, and you're possibly lucky you can still use the computer.
Whether you take my first suggestion or not if we're talking Norton Utilities, you better get your important files backed up.
Norton has an uninstaller on their website. My advice would be to reinstall it then uninstall it using the utility. Once you have uninstalled it, then go and clean up any other Norton / Symantec files left on the hard drive.

You could always try using <A HREF="http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&src=&docid=2004071910434606&nsf=tsgeninfo.nsf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=" target="_new">SymNRT</A>
