I have a Verizon cell phone. On my phone the text "Verizon Wireless"
appears on the screen. The Wallpaper I have is not really visible with
the text on the screen. I was wondering if their is a way to remove the
text? TIA

Try going into Settings--- Banner.
You should be able to delete the "Verizon Wireless" or put whatever you
want there.

The banner is in addition to the Verizon Wireless logo. At least that is the
way it is on my LG6100 and LG6000

If you have a datacable, you can hex-edit the ERI file and clean it up

This is not something for the beginner user...

The site itself seems to be down, but you can read a mirror of it in
this page. Ive done this on my VX6000

x-no-archive:yes
It is part of the ERI & can't be changed by any user keystrokes.
On the new Nokias, "VerizonWireless" only appears when on a VZW system that
is Not your home system ID, That is when the ERI kicks in, vs the user
changeable "Verizon" "Banner".
I'm not sure if this is how your brand works, however....

I went into my 6100 and downloaded the eri.bin file to my desktop. I just
opened it with WordPad and deleted Verizon Wireless from the line, saved it
and uploaded it to the phone. The Verizon Banner disappeared but then my
roaming triangle was on all the time. Is there something that I didn't do
correctly? The word pad was the only program that I found that would open it
and I would be able to make out some of the data in plain English
thanks

Per the instructions you need to edit the file with a HEX editor.

Yes I now have a hex editor software program. I did find out that the
ERI.bin file that I modified was for the sounds that the phone has when
placing a call or when the service changes. This phone actually will tell
you Verizon Wireless or Extended Network in a female voice when placing a
call. That is the file I messed with and it no longer works. The screen
still shows Verizon and Extended just fine.
