GTA SA Modding problems

So i have gta sa for quite a few years on the pc.
I wanted a few new and awesome cars in the game.
So I downloaded them - http://www.thegtaplace.com/downloads/f6106-gta3hdvehicles-tri-pack-sa
I followed the instructions.(I downgraded my game to v1.0 EU)
These were the instructions given in the readme -
INSTALLATION NOTES:


STEP1: Copy the "data" folder and paste it directly into your San Andreas installation folder. Overwrite all existing files.



STEP2: Use an IMG editing tool to open gta3.img, and add all the files in the "Add to gta3.img" to it.



STEP3: Nothing! Enjoy! If something didn't work, follow the steps again.

Then when i started the game the menu came properly but when i tried to load a save game the game crashed after the loading screen.(I opened gta3.img with IMG Tool 2.0)
So I did everything again but this time before closing IMG Tool 2.0 after adding all the .txd and .dff files I rebuilt the archive and then closed.
The same problem occurred.
I tried deleting the .set file in GTA San Andreas User Files but that didn't help.
However when I started a new game , the game started but the same old vehicles were showing.

I think that I should've replaced all the .txd and .dff files instead of adding the new ones cuz the cars are remastered versions of the default cars in the game.

I'm not sure cuz I don't want to screw up my game so please if anyone knows what is wrong please help.

There are many IMG tools out there but I find the best has always been G-IMG. Get it here.

the best way is:
after installing gta san andreas download car patches for gta san andreas from http://www.gtainside.com/en/news.php
first create a backup copy of gta3..
i think u have IMG tool 2.0
using img tool open the file gta3 from gta san andreas/models/gta3.
and replace the .txt & .dff files of your patch..!!
Eg: u downloaded patch name ferrari.txd & ferrari.dff
then u like 2 put this car in the place of infernus in gta san andreas.. thn u wnt 2 rename the ferreri to infernus..(dont make spellling mistakes)...
thn that renamed file want 2 add to gta3 in the place of real infurnes using IMG tool..!!

file-open-gta3
then edit-find-infernus.txd
then u will get the file -delete the infernus.txt & infernus.dff..
then command-add-(add the car patch -renamed file) (plz add one by one)..
u cant add the two files together..!!!
after adding command-rebuilt archeive....atlast in bottom space it will show done..
then start the game and enjoyy...
now u added only one car...if u want more ...want 2 do same process...!!And if u want, after adding all .dff and .txd ....command-rebuilt archeive....
