On board sound question

Hello All,
I will be trying out a Gigabyte GA-7VTX-H(VIA KT266A). Does it slow down the system if I use the onboard Creative CT-5880 sound chip instead of something like a SoundBlaster Live? Just wondering...
Thanks

Do you drive to work or take a bag lunch?

Using onboard sound wont slow that board down.

have at it man. (I was looking to buy that MOBO myself, but I like A7V266-E a little better, merely cause of the onboard RAID contoller)

It will slow you down, but 114 FPS in Quake 3 instead of 115 is no big deal.

fatburger, i thought onboard sound chips (as opposed to codecs) were actually faster than PCI card as its direct rather than the card which has to utilise PCI??

Nope, the opposite. Typically onboard sound isn't as good of a chip, so it uses more of the CPU.
