What should I get?

Hi everyone!! I'm in the process of buying a new CPU and main board.. I was wondering whats the best bang for my buck and best compatibilty.. I know I want an Asus board.
Intel?
Athalon?
and what cpu would be best?
Also.. DDR or RIMMS?

theres loads of similar posts and about 6 boards that keep coming up. I chose GA-7VTXH but thats Gigabyte (also good company, and cheaper).
as for cpu, XP 1600+ is the best bang for buck as it says in the Toms HWG article. I'd suggest DDR as its fast and CHEAP, plus far more widely supported with mobos.

The best bang for your buck is the ECS K7S5A and the Athlon XP 1600+ CPU.
