ASUSA7M266 and 1gb of ddr memory

Running win98se and originally had 2 256ddr ram chips installed ok. Just purchased 2 512 ram sticks and cant get both to work.Anyone got any ideas on best way to make win98se boot up without restarting into safemode with 1gb of mem?

why do you need 1 gig of mem that only make's ore pc slower its only usefule if you work whit real big files like movies ore music for the rest it will only slow it down
384 is for most bords the best amount of memmory there is a site of a memmory maker that has a on line database whit wat mem doze if you have to litel ore to muths on ore mobo only lost the link sorry

yup i keep hearing about this cacheman, win98se cant cope with >512mb RAM, cacheman sorts it out good and proper, plus some other good features that make it useful even for those with <= 512mb. i think www.outertech.com to get it.
