Hi,

I bought an ECS K7S5A a month ago and am running a AMD Athlon 1.2, 256 DDR, CD-RW, ASUS 7700 GeForce 2 and so forth. Initially I had a real problem with getting to system to work but after a fresh reformat things were ok. My CD-ROM broke so I went out and bought a Creative PC-DVD 12X drive and replaced it. On the system properties folder, the drive seemed to be working. However, when you place either a DVD, or regular CD (data, music...) it causes the system to reset. I've tried moving it from secondary master to secondary slave and nothing seems to help. Has anybody had a similar problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It might be an insufficient amount of power being supplied to the DVD drive. Make sure you aren't overloading your Power Supply, and make sure the connector is all the way in the drive.
