When i start skyrim is auto detects my setting and sets it to high. But when i try and play is is really laggy.

Specs
Processor- Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 530, 2.93GHz
graphics- ATI Radeon HD 5450
ram- 6gb

Any ideas on what to do to make it less laggy, its still laggy on the lowest setting.

Tom's did a benchmark of Skyrim at release, and as you can see even the HD 6450 (2-3 times as powerful, depending on the game, as your 5450) struggles at all resolutions.

Your CPU is ok for Skyrim but your video card is severely lacking in power and is why you are experiencing frame lag.

The video card is what is hurting you the most. What size psu do you have? That will help you determine what video card you could put in it, and of course your budget if you decide to change the card. Please always mention OS, and be little more specific about location or overall, etc.

I have a bad computer too and can experience lagg even in medium in 1176x664 resolution

AMD Phenom x3 8450 (2,.g ghz i think)
3gb ram
Geforce 9600 gs

You mentioned checking if so the game doesn't run a integrated graphics, how do you check that.

Check out toms performance review and you will see that the game is very limited by the cpu. In fact a single 580 would be overkill for this game but there are reports of overclocked i5's not being able to fully crank out the visuals like expected with a console port putting our meager fps.

Hi

I use a radeon HD 5450 in hybrid crossfire with a radeon HD 4250 and play this game perfectly in high settings and with the anti-alising and other filters in maximum, in the graphic card driver. My resolution is 1280x1024.

My system:
- Motherboard: Asus m4a88td-m evo
- Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.7 GHz
- RAM: DDR3 8 GB @ 1600 MHz
- Graphics: Hybrid crossfire with:
Sappphire radeon HD5450 1GB DDR3 integrated + auto assigned shared with RAM (overclocked to 700MHz Clock / 800 MHz memory clock)
Inboard radeon HD4250
