Application load problem

I'm having a problem loading applications. Other running applications also
seem to freeze. The problem only happens after I run/load AOL 9.0 Optimized.
It seems as though it is a windowing system issue mainly because the process
shows up in the task manager (the window just doesn't pop up) After about 3
minutes, the launched applications finally show up, and the frozen
applications unfreeze. This problem started after I loaded AOL 9.0 Optimized
on my system. But it is now affecting multiple applications.

Please Help,

Thank you,

John Byrne

You'll need to ask AOL about their software - this is a group for Windows
XP.

Are you sure that AOL is the *only* thing that got loaded on your system?

The problem is that this is affecting Microsoft Applications like Outlook and
MSN Messenger.

One more symptom of the problem is that the CPU is at (or around) 0 ... So
the problem is not with System performance.

A little more on my analysis: I have a tool that let's me look at the
threads of the application running. When the application is loaded just the
executable thread is running. (Not the other necessary threads that are
created later on) The last thing in the call stack (or the last 2
functions/methods called) looks like...
ntdll.dll! KiFastSystemCallRet (hex addr.)
uxtheme.dll! IsThemeActive (hex addr.)

This really isn't my problem -- I.E. I'm not being paid to troubleshoot
problems like this (and I'm not as rich as Mr. Bill Gates). It seems to me
what really needs to happen is Microsoft and AOL need to reconcile their
differences and make up (and stop fighting). In other words AOL should use
Microsoft's operating system properly -- Just my 2 cents.

Thanks,
Any other suggestions are welcome.
