THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR READING!

Hi all,

I just bought a P4 and new i850 motherboard... i have 2 sticks of RDRAM and 2 sticks that look like RDRAM but have nothing on them (just green chips). when i opened up my motherboard box (QDI PlatiniX 4X) i found them in there. no instructions are in the manual. and i've never seen anything like this before... maybe that's because i've never seen RDRAM before.

do i fill up slots 3 and 4 with these blank chips? or do what with them?

oh yeah one more thing, how much do those "USB cards" (which are really just covers that have 2 USB ports and a cable connecting to your motherboard) cost? are they easily available and what are they called?

thx all,
cj

RAMBUS must be installed in pairs.

If you have two sticks of the real stuff and four slots, you must put in the blanks (that you were sent) in every other slot.

I'm building my first P4 system and my question was the same as yours.

Alternate RAMBUS-BLANK-RAMBUS-BLANK.

Good Luck, my friend.

the two weird sticks are called CRIMMS...and are placed in the empty banks...so if u fill up 2 of your 4 banks with RDRAM u have to fill the rest with those CRIMMS....
as to their sequence...i have my RDRAM in the first 2 banks...and the CRIMMS in the other two...guess alternating won't work
