Can't seem to find out why this game keeps crashing so much. At random points in the game, it will just freeze and lock my computer up; forcing me to reset the pc. Sometimes it just freezes, and sometimes the freeze is accompanied by a looping noise. No BSOD or anything that I have seen. I have had to reset my pc 6 times in the last 2 hours. Can't be good on the hd!

All drivers up to date, and temps are well within range. Specs:

Cpu - I5 2500k OC 4.4ghz
Cooler - Hyper 212 plus
Mobo - ASrock p67 Extreme4
GPU - EVGA 2x GTX 570 SLI Overclocked (850,1700,2050)
Ram - 2 4gb Corsair Vengeange 1600
HDD - WD velociraptor 600gb
PSU - Corsair HX 850watt
- Creative Sound blaster X-fi titanium

I've had skyrim freeze as well. It's some of the kinks that Bethesda needs to work out in a patch. You shouldn't have to restart though. Ctrl+Alt+Del should let you open the task manager to end program and restart skyrim.

Skyrim crashes to desktop on mine with such unnerving frequency that I've learned to hit the f5 button as a reflex action after doing anything.

That was until I discovered skyrim4gb. It's a mod and an alternative exe file to launch the game. Google it. I've not had it crash since

Could be something to do with SLI mode. Disable it and only use one.

You could also try entering this into your skyrimprefs.ini or change to this if its there.
