I looking to purchase a 19" monitor for around $200, preferrably less. I have come across such monitors that carry the names KDS, Proview, and Future Power.
If you have any info on the reliabilty of these brands, please let me know. Thanks

Try the KDS brand, they seem to be pretty good.

I have a KDS Avitron 19" 195-TF. I love it. I paid around $400US for it, though. If you found one for $200, I'd say grab it.

Don't get any of those crap KDS monitors!
Get a Samsung SyncMaster 950p! It cost more than 200 bucks though, i got it less than 300 (not including shipping). You will never find a good or quality 19" monitor for less than 200 bucks (unless you buy one used). Like the other guy said, if you can't afford an Excellent 19" like my Samsung, then go get a quality 17" instead.

Oh yeah, don't get a crap Proview either! I made a mistake by buying a 17" Proview a year ago. It worked alright for like the first month, but after than, quality (especially sharpness and focus) started to deteriorate. Don't skimp on your monitor purchase since you'll be looking at for like 2-3 years. Get a good quality one like my SyncMaster 950p.

When buying a monior, DON'T SKIMP!!!!! That's my basic advice, if you can't afford a good 19" then you should go for a good 17".

Got a NEC Multisync 95F.
19" for a good price, flat screen, no damper wires, no reflection, vibrant colours, upto 1600x1200@75Hz. A bit fuzzy on the border areas though, but still, an excellent monitor for the same price as a quality 17".

I have a GemStar 19" .25 dot, that was cheap and it looks really great. In fact it even looks as good if not better than my 19" Viewsonic .25 dot. Go figure...The gemStar isn't as flat as the viewsonic though. But the whole flatness thing is overrated as far as I'm concerned.

Only problem is...I don't have any Idea where to get another one because I got mine at a computer show 2 years ago and haven't seen any since. I'd really like to buy another one for my third machine too.....

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Yep, can't argue with that. That 85hz refresh rate really helps out if you're using the computer more than an hour per day. 60hz just doesn't cut it anymore, even on the telly....
