I'm sure I know the answer but I'll ask anyway. I am looking for a
relatively economical cell phone that is both a phone & a Palm Pilot. I
know something like the Treo is very much out of my price range but I am
only looking for those two features (phone & Palm). I don't care if I can
check email or even have any web access, cameras, Bluetooth, or any of that
stuff. Does such an anima exist?

It is called the Kyocera 7135, and wish it had a faster processor. You'll
find lots of information in this notes file, or try phonescoop.com.

Thinking outloud: You may not have looked very far; but you'll find the
Kyocera 7135 every bit the phone you are looking for. While it is not
without faults/problems, it is still my personal phone of choice. I've had
one for 18 months, and it does everything I need. Basically it does
everything you would want, less picture taking and bluetooth.

Just curious: Does this phone support T9 Data Entry and "Get it now" ?

NO (thank goodness). No T9 necessary because you have the
standard Palm grafiti data entry method (or attach a keyboard).
Get it now is for Brew games and apps. You use the standard
Palm apps (hundreds of thousands of 3rd party providers).

The OP said the Treo was well over their price point. The
7135 is in the same price range.

Yep.. However, you know how they have a "do not call" list? They also have a
"do not SELL" list, and from what I understand, your name is on it... :)

Maybe you missed something in the original post. " relatively economical
cell phone ". Does a $600 phone fit that description?

Widely available on eBay for far less than $600......

One must also factor in the term "relatively" economical - compared to other
PDA/phone combos, the 7135 fits that term quite nicely....

Yes, far far less than $600: as I check ebay, $14.50 - $195. I guess that
is in some folks budget, and according to my math, under $600 as well. dr

I got a new 7135 from VZW for $200 (extending my agreement for 2 years).
Not too shabby. Got the warranty which you do not get from eBay...

Don't look at Verizon's phone lineup for anything good. You'll find maybe 1
or 2 of them, but that's about it. If you check out Cingular's lineup
there's about 20 PDA type phones. That's pretty sick when you think about
it. Comparing the two phone lineups is pathetic.

I recently cracked the screen on my Motorola v60c, so I'm looking for something
like this too. I like the Palm platform and an integrated phone would mean
I'd be able to actually sync my phonelist, because I'm a Linux desktop user.
I'm not terribly interested in using it for e-mail, WAP, camera, (well,
I am interested in using it for SMS).

The prices I'm seeing for the 7135 are a bit out of my price range.
The Kyocera QCP 6035 seems like an ideal phone for me and they seem to
be plentiful on eBay for around $50. Aside from being bulky, are there
technical limitations that one should be aware of? Anyone know
