im looking to buy the sis 645 chip mobo for my P4 system (it currently has the pittyful i845 in it...bah)
from what i've seen on pricewatch, there is only two companies making a mobo with the sis 645:

1) ECS P4S5A
2) MSI 645 Ultra333

of these two...which should be best for my system?

P4 1.7
ram (doesnt matter cuz i have to buy ddr ram anyways...atleast 256 though)
asus p4B (with 256 ram if anyone was curious)
60 gig maxtor 7200 rpm
sony dvd rom
hp 8200i burner
R8500 (retail)
SB live! 5.1 dolbly digital
currently running win xp pro. (bah)

my system will be used mostly for gaming (currently counterstrike, some UT, and im trying to get a copy of castle wolfenstien....hmm...i think i spelled that wrong)

or should i just wait until abit or asus ships their sis 645 mobo?
btw...you know what sux?...my system didnt even break 6500 on 3dmark2001...bah!!

I don't claim to know anything about everything, I just tell people what I know.

Get the Asus one P4S333. You can buy from dabs.com in the UK. Asus do appear to have a spotless record when building performance boards--plus great overclocking utilities.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

I wonder what FUGGER would say to that.

The only SiS645 motherboards I see on PriceWatch are from ECS, MSI and Aopen. Of those, I'd recommend MSI.

It is better to wait for 845 chipset to support DDR. Intel allows Motherboard Manufacturer to ship 845 motherboard with DDR on 12/16 so they should be availible soon.
Intel chipset have less problem than VIA chipset and SiS chipset. The only reason to get Intel processor is that Intel produce better chipset. As I said in another post if you want to get VIA or SiS chipset you should just get AMD CPU. AMD CPU have price/performance ratio.
