New cpu or gpu for swtor

playing the beta of swtor i noticed a little fps lag in the game...i'm wondering if i should upgrade my cpu or graphics card, i've been told that my cpu is whats bottle necking me but i have no clue

current:

Processor: AMD Athlon II x3 425 processor 2.70Ghz
Ram: 8GB
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Graphics: nVidia GTS 250 (512mb)

The biggest problem is your GPU.

most likely your gpu is the bottleneck, but the CPU is not the best either. what settings are your running the beta on?

thanks for the responses, I'm running it on medium'ish settings...do you think a GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB would be good? It was the best one I seen for my budget (~$200)

There is a good chance you'll be able to get a 560ti for under 200 dollars closer to the swtor release. It's quite a bit better performer on almost all benchmarks than the 560. I would recommend waiting, or spending the extra 30-40 bucks.

The 570 is unlikely to drop into your price range any time soon, or I would recommend that optimally.

I agree with casualcolors here. You should definitely shoot for a 560ti. As long as your ok waiting for rebates youll pay less than $200
