Hi All

When I start a laptop running XP Home, an error message
occurs after the desktop appears. It says:

Windows cannot find the file 'C'. Make sure that the
route and name of the file are correctly written/spelt
and try again. To find a file, click on 'start'
and 'search'.

Can anyone help please ?

Thanks

Hello,

Can you enter the Safe Mode? If you can, please refer to the following
article to perform a Clean Boot:

Q310353 How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q310/3/53.asp

What is the result? If the error message re-appear, please take a screen
shot of the error and send it to v-rebc@microsoft.com for research.

If you are unable to enter the Safe Mode, please repair Windows XP as Carey
has suggested. You may refer to the following article to repair Windows XP:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP

Any update, let us get in touch!

Best regards,
