I've been looking around here and a few other wireless phone forums, trying
to find some detailed specs on the file size requirements for the various
things that can be used with that phone. Wallpaper, ringers, mp3s, etc...
So far I've only found a vague explanation that MP3s should be converted to
a bitrate and duration that will produce a file of under 100k. I'm not sure
if this is a limit of the phone, of the transfer method of sending via
*@vzwpix.com , or what. Also, are only certain bitrates / frequencies
supported? I've seen some people insist on certain rates - while others
just say to crunch 'em down to 16/16 and save them with a "*.mid" filename.
I'm also very interested in the specs for the animated gif capabilities of
this phone. What is the largest filesize gif you can upload - is there a
limit on amount of frames? framerate? etc.

for MP3 ringers i use the following setting
~30 sec
32-bit mono @ 22kHz
all have seemed to work fine. they are all larger then 100 but not by
much (140 is the largest i've had).
i have no idea about the wallpaper though.

as far as ring tones, you create the MP3 file you want, then you just
rename the file using a .mid extension instead of mp3 extension then
load the file either thru vzwpix or bitpim
the 100K is the file limit imposed by vzwpix.com
this prevents uploading a complete song in midi format as a ringtone
and keeps them out of court on 'PIRATE' issues
wallpapers should be 16 bit color..
vzwpix will convert all wallpapers to 256 color 8 bit ..
16 bit is the native format of the system/processor and gives better
color
you will need photo shop or photo elements to create 16 bit files
other programs save files in 8 bit 256 color or 24 bit color
mp3's 32 bit 22khz is good
I keep mine at 16/16 just to keep the files smaller, besides i have a
'TIN' ear
really good sounds don't sound any better to me than medium good
the phone is not stereo , so i don't waste the space on bigger better
files
