Here it is

I'm trying to install XP pro on a comp A7V-133-c duron 800

when i start the install, everything goes fine. It copies files to HD ( you know, that yellow bar that moves slowly to the right :) )

after, it say MS-DOS portion is finish and needs to reboot.

i reboot but it stop there. I see only a PRESS ANY KEY TO REBOOT after the memory count and other normal stuff.. and i cant get pass there.

i tried installing win 98, and ME and it works fine. Just win200 and XP that gives me that problem ?

any idea would be apreciated !

thanks in advance

It's not true...I'm running just fine.

I wish I could come up with a recommendation, but I can't think of any right now. :frown: I will post if I find something out.

Man, I'd really like to help out. Can you give anymore details? At least your system specs, what your hard drives/cd drives are set to (e.g. primary master, secondary slave, etc), BIOS revision, and the steps you took to install?

ok, i have the HD wester 20 gig alone on the primary ATA100 IDE and the CD alone on the secondary IDE.

256 meg ram pc 133, duron 800 8x100

i start with a clean format of fat32 on the HD

i think it may be a problem with XP detecting the ata100 HD on the boot

ill check if a bios update will help..

You know what? The most recent one I can find was 1007. Unfortunately, the Asus website was redone, and unupdated. I'll email it to you, if you want...

Seems like that your partition is not activated. Check is status in Fdisk.

Hope that helps.

I Had problems installing to the A7v133/512 mem/1400 thunderbird. come to find out I have some bad mem. I didn't match my mem or I have some that are not compatable withe the asus board which can be touchy. I can run 98 on it but 98 is more tolable than xp.I installed XP on the A7v with a 800 thunderbird and I was quite pleased. I did not have to load any drivers and it even set the network up for me. It has it's own little problems you can work around once loaded but I beleive that XP might turn out to be a rock solid OS. Bruce
