I test some motherboards for Athlon XP and i'm very sad for the incredible inestability.
I test under Windows Me, with a Geforce 2, and a Live!...
With all the new drivers(DirectX8.1,Detonator 23.11,etc..)
Can someone tell me a chipset that don't hang up?
Thank you

Instead...I would recommend a OS upgrade to WindowsXP and of course, the latest hardware drivers.

I want to die like my Grandfather...in my sleep...not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I also had lots of problems with WinME, cursing the day I decided to 'upgrade' from Win98. While I can't comment on WinXP, I decided to go with Win2K several months ago, and it has been absolutely stable.

Regarding a solid motherboard for the Athlon XP, I would highly recommend the Gigabyte GA-7VTXE/H (the 'H' model adds integrated Creative sound and Realtek LAN chips). While the GA-7VTX boards are not good overclockers (like the Epox 8KHA+), they fully support Athlon XP and they are extremely stable!

the gigabyte isnt as good of a performer like the soyo sy-kv7plus dragon (my favorite) or the asus a7v266-e so I would go with one of these =]....personally I am running an athlon xp 1900 on a abit kg7 and it runs like a champ but doesnt like the sblive which you want so steer clear of the via 686b southbridge =]....

I would stay away from the Nvidia 23.11 drivers as I have heard of a lot of problems with some Via chipsets. I have a Soyo Dragon+ and it works great for me under win xp. I think my Nvidia drivers are 21.83.

Soyo Dragon+
Athlon XP1700+
Geforce 3 TI200
256 MB Corsair 2400

I'm pretty sure that the 23.11 only had problems with Win XP. I'm using it in WinME with a Geforce2 and I got a pretty good increase in performance.

I like to turkey!?!
