You'll have to cut off about half the pins to make it fit, and then it will never work again!
Unless it's a Slot 1 CPU and a Slot A motherboard, in which case it simply won't boot.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

yeah, different pin array...wouldnt even fit in the socket...or wouldnt even post...
odd that someone would mix the two motherboards...unless like crash said, it was a slot type.
very odd......

In a way they can use a Pentium on a AMD chipset. <A HREF="http://www.evertech.com/category.cfm?Category=9" target="_new">Downgrading</A>
Don't expect too much from it though.

Yeah, but the poster said Athlon, not AMD. K6 -> Pentium was always do-able. K7 -> Anything Intel wasn't and isn't

You can use an old install of Windows 98 on a new mobo, but I don't recommend it. You could get driver problems and incompatibilities.

No beep, it will be a siren with some smoke effects, looks like fireworks.
