Does anyone know why that even when i get a really great signal with my
Analog Motorola that no matter how hard I try that in some areas I
can't place a call? The phone gives me a fast busy signal like the
netowrks too busy to handle my call. Its just that in these places
where its always "busy" it seems kinda odd that at 3am the tower would
be overloaded. Anyone know what to do or whats up? Thanks

Also, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what Carriers still allow
you to activate analog service. I heard about Consumer Cellular but I
wasnt sure if this still holded true. Thanks

Because Verizon isn't adding any more analog capacity.

I use an old GTE analog when I go
into analog only areas. I just go to
MyAccount at VZW.com and plug
in the ESN. However, some problems
may be encountered such as turning off
caller ID on your account. Luck

Andy,
Let me guess, you're in California. There are way too many users who either
only use analog by choice or who find themselves in an area where they can
only find analog. Verizon has added many users overall and some of them
still access analog channels that have not been expanded.

Travel a bit farther inland and you'll find all kinds of analog systems with
room to spare. And there is where you'll appreciate having it!

Perhaps elaborating a point Bill already made and a thing to consider is
that many phones (especially the older CDMA phones) have an automatic fall
back to analog and re-dial on system busy setting. My Kyocera 6035 had this
feature on by default. My 7135 has the setting, but it is off by default
and can be turned on in the programming screen.

I actually like this feature because here in Eugene, there are analog
channels available, and at 5pm when the system is busy I'd rather have my
phone get through on analog than nothing at all.

Anyway, any area with near capacity issues is likely to experience analog
channels being full too because of this feature on many older phones.

PS: Most of my family have Qualcomm phones from the airtouch days. They
will never update their phone nor do they care.

lol. I Actually live out just southeast of chicago about 30miles, in NW
Indiana. Oh, "-SPIKE-" VZWs website doesnt give u any troubles with the
esn change? Originally i tried it from there and they made me call it
in. The were a little iffy accepting the ESN but i was able to get them
to. (didnt mention it was analog =op ) Hopefully it will let me do the
swaps myself because i have a nice Motorola Classic im about to get
that i'd like to use :)

PS: Anyone have any info on consumer cellular? I called them and the
lady said she cant activate analog now. :-(

I have never had a problem with the VZW
site except when I entered HEX instead of
Decimal or the other way around. However,
some do have some problems with receiving
calls purportedly from their phone's inability
to digest Caller ID data. In that event they
apparently call CS and have it (Caller ID) turned off,
then no more problems. If that problem is
experienced the phone will blink, but will
not ring or answer.. Luck!!!
