Freezing up when not in use

Whenever I leave my computer for a short amount of time say 15+mins and all its doing is d/l something for me everything but the mouse freezes up for a short period of time, sometimes it can be a min or 2 tho and all i can do is move the mouse around. Any idea how i can prevent this?

sorry for the late replies, out of town for a bit.

Do you get BSOD's or is it just that the computer freezes up?

Nope no bsod's havent seen those in ages.

Open Task Manager
, look in the list of programs running, sort by CPU usage, and also by RAM when you check that. Any programs using up a resources?

umm for Ram its mostly Firefox.eve/svchost.exe/teatimer.exe/ekrn.exe
and for cpu its Idle process everything else jumps around under 05


Turn off Hibernate or Sleep or both. Also try another usb port or mouse.

Ill give this a shot.


Does the HDD make a ticking or clicking sound?
