SOOOOO Slow!!!! help

I have a brand new Gateway pentium 4 yada, yada. I have a high speed internet
conection but it is so slow I am woiting 5 minutes to open a page. I know
this is probably kid stuff but I don't know what to do, can anyone help? I
have cleared the cookies and deleted internet files?

Are you checking for spyware? Are there sign of activities not relating
to browsing the internet?

If not installed download Adaware and / or update Reference file
from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and use it to remove
parasites.

Do not assume since the computer is new, you have the latest drivers.

In addition to spyware, check for viruses and I hope you have a firewall
(not XP's SP2 firewall) installed and functioning.
