Hi,

I just ran MS spyware program and deleted some files that were high, medium & low risk files.

Now everytime I start Win XP ( Home ) edition I am getting following message.

What does this mean & should I be concerned about it and if yes what harm is it doing and what should I do about it?

Thank You,
Greg

I rarely get the MS message "What does this mean?", but I think it is an honest MS response!

°¤o,¸¸¸,o¤°`°¤o \\// o¤°`°¤o,¸¸¸,o¤°
And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign

I am really sorry that I forgot to include the message.

Here it is :

Error Loading.

C:\Progra~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~2DLL

The Specified module could not be found.

What does this mean and how will it affect my system and what can I do to resolve it?

Thank You.
Greg

NewDot is spyware that MS AntiSpyware cleaned from your system.

1. Click Advanced Tools
2. Click System Explorers
3. On the left pane (System Explorers), click Startup Programs
4. Look for any instances of "NewDot" and highlight the line.
5. In the right-hand pane, click "Permanently remove startup program."

Reboot, then run another scan to be safe.

Go to Start - Run - type MSCONFIG
Click the last tab on the right, STARTUP

Look for it in there.. it'll call it up in there.. just uncheck the box for now, then click Ok and Restart your computer.

Chances are, it's sitting in the registry under the "Run" or "Runonce" key.

Yes, the instructions I posted were to be followed after double-clicking your Microsoft Anti-Spyware icon (to start the program). Once started, you will see "Advanced Tools." MS AntiSpyware looks in the registry to see what programs have been set up to run at bootup. Accessing MSCONFIG, as noted by riser, is equally effective. Either way, you will be able to disable any program from starting up during the boot process.

In your case, MS AntiSpyware seems to have removed NewDot spyware from your system, but forgot to remove the registry key that tells the computer to start the NewDot spyware application at bootup. So, when your system boots up, it looks for the NewDot spyware to run it, but cannot find it.

Im yet to encounter spyware in the Run directories. They are always well-hidden.
