I have an ASUS P3B-F motherboard (slot1/440BX) and would like to upgrade the gaming performance of the system on a very limited budget. I am currently running a Celeron 400, TNT2 Ultra (AGP2x), and 192mb PC100 RAM. I am considering either a GeForce2 MX400 32mb card or a Celeron 900, and i have a few questions.

Firstly, would the Celeron 900 work with an FCPGA slot converter card? Would my motherboard be able to run that fast a processor? The 900 *is* coppermine, right? Would the FCPGA card provide enough clearance for the retail heatsink?

Assuming both solutions work, which would provide a larger boost? (Q3A is pretty much the target game here)

Thanks for any help you all can provide!

you could also use the latest Tualatin Celeron processors (using a Tualatin P-III is costly and its already 133 MHz FSB), on the Powerleap IP3/T sloket adapter that they ship a Celeron 1.2 GHz and the cooler for $167.

See [ur]http://www.friendtech.com[/url] you can easily overclock the 1.2 GHz at 100 MHz FSB to as much as 1.6 GHz (may not be that high in practice), else just go for the Asus S370-DL slotket with the 1 GHz Celeron with the latest BIOS update.

Thanks, i would go for the Powerleap solution but its just out of my budget. I didn't know ASUS made a slotket... i'd like to use theirs instead of that somewhat suspect slocket from memoryshippers. I found the S370-DL FC-PGA here:

But i also found this troublesome review, not sure if its about the same model or not:

thoughts on this? better prices elsewhere?

Also, does anyone know if such a card would provide enough clearance for the retail Celeron heatsink?

Thanks for the help; things are looking better for my old system :)

Celeron 900 will work with the motherbard with slocket. I have Abit BX6 with MSI slocket. I would recommond you to get a MSI sloket.
